Pastoral care
Team Coordinator: Jolanta Bielas
Members of the Team: consecrated persons: chaplains, nuns and lay people: doctor, psychologists, ECG technician and medical statistician.
Meetings of the Team are held once a month, during which plans, the schedule of activities and implementation of tasks are discussed.
The role of the Team is to complement the holistic care of the patient with the aspect of spiritual care. It is a broadly understood psychological and religious care for patients and their families: pastoral talks, sacramental service, prayer support as well as initiating and helping in the organization of various hospital celebrations.
Tasks of the Pastoral Care Team
- Psychological, spiritual and religious care for patients, their families and co-workers
- Sacramental service to the sick, their families and co-workers
- Pastoral talks to patients and their relatives, accompanying patients
- Prayer support for the sick, their families and co-workers
- Pastoral support of therapeutic team work (consultations, pastoral counseling, exchange of experiences)
- Celebration of the Holy Mass and services
- Initiating and organizational support for religious and monastic celebrations, and other pastoral initiatives
- Coordination of volunteering

The chaplain can also be contacted through the nursing staff.
An important part of the Church’s ministry is the pastoral activity of hospital chaplains. This way, the Church becomes active in helping the sick and suffering who need help.
The chaplain of the sick closely cooperates with the Pastoral Care Team, doctors, nurses, paramedics and volunteers to give them support.
The tasks of the Chaplain include:
- accompanying the patient,
- spiritual support of the sick and the family,
- administering holy sacraments (confession, holy communion, the sacrament of the sick),
- celebrating the Eucharist,
- help in solving problems of faith that arise with the disease,
- supporting the patient in making difficult decisions,
- taking part in the process of treatment (as a member of the nursing and treatment team),
- solving problems together with the patient, family and treatment team,
- spiritual support of the medical and nursing staff,
- enabling the Patient to contact a representative of his/her religion.
Holy Mass in the Hospital Chapel is celebrated:
- on weekdays: Monday – Friday at 2.30 p.m.
- on Sunday and public holidays at 10.30 a.m.
- on Saturday at 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (listening to the Church service)
- Chaplet of the Divine Mercy every day after the Holy Mass at around 3 p.m.
Holy Mass for collective intentions is held every Wednesday (intentions can be placed in the box in front of the Chapel).
Holy Communion is given to patients in the wards:
- after the Holy Mass on weekdays
- on Sunday and public holidays in the morning.
Holy Confession and the Sacrament of the Sick are given to the Patients every day in the Hospital Chapel or in the sick room on request. A need to receive the sacrament can also be reported to our staff.
The hospital chaplain is on duty around the clock and is available to the patient’s every call. Transmission of Services from the Hospital Chapel in the wards on channel 26.
